Bake EXIF orientation metadata into actual pixel data, fixing photos that display differently across applications. Many cameras and smartphones save orientation as a metadata tag rather than rotating actual pixels—software that reads this tag displays images correctly, while software that ignores it shows them sideways or upside-down.

The EXIF orientation tag specifies one of eight possible orientations (rotations and/or flips). This tool reads the tag, applies the indicated transformation to the actual pixel data, then removes the orientation metadata—creating an image that displays correctly everywhere regardless of whether software respects EXIF orientation. The transformation uses lossless 90° rotation and/or flip operations.

Web developers uploading images to platforms that ignore EXIF orientation (many image hosts and CMS systems strip or ignore metadata) ensure consistent display. Email users attaching photos that recipients see rotated fix the issue at the source. Social media managers posting images that display incorrectly on certain platforms eliminate orientation inconsistencies. Photographers preparing images for clients ensure universal correct display. Anyone frustrated by photos appearing differently in different applications resolves the issue permanently by burning orientation into pixel data.
